Château La Verrière 2022 – Bordeaux Supérieur

The wine has a deep ruby color with slight purple highlights. The nose is fruity and toasty: it expresses the quite intense aromas of morello cherry, tart red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant as well as a hint of roasted cherry in the background. After aeration, we also find notes of toasted wood, toasted hazelnut, a hint of dark chocolate in the background, spices (vanilla, licorice, a hint of star anise) as well as refreshing minty and sappy notes (pine sap, pine bark, dried mint), completed by an airy hint of peony. The palate is juicy, gourmand, open and supple. It expresses the flavors of crushed morello cherry, roasted red cherry, chocolate red cherry, ripe strawberry, wild raspberry and blackcurrant, combined with chocolatey, toasted and spicy notes (dark chocolate, toasted hazelnut, vanilla, liquorice, a touch of tonka bean). There are also hints of dried blackcurrant leaf, dried mint and tobacco in the background. Good persistence on the palate, on the powdery and chocolate side, with a salivating acidity and solid, polished and well-built tannins.
