Château La Serre 2022 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is fruity and fresh, with a chiseled touch and a slight blackness in freshness that brings depth. We can distinguish notes of boysenberry, bright blackcurrant, and a floral hint associated with almost aromatic herbal touches, infusion, small creamy blue fruits, as well as discreet notes of cornflower and toast. The palate is nicely led, fresh, fruity, with a certain creaminess and gourmandise. It offers accuracy, tension and a chiseled, airy, and pleasantly tangy profile (reflecting the terroir). We find notes of creamy blackcurrant, juicy and pulpy blackberry, and unctuous blue plum, associated with touches of fresh and juicy cherry. Nuances of cornflower, star anise, infusion, fine hints of black tea, vanilla and a subtle sappy and iodized hint complete the base. Good length. Lovely mellowness and gourmandise on the finish, with an almost caramelized or toasted hazelnut hint. Tannins are mellow, savoury and racy.
