Château Haut Chatain 2014 – Lalande-de-Pomerol

The nose is aromatic and offers freshness, a nice grain and a fine concentration. It reveals notes of blackberry, crushed wild strawberries and cassis combined with a subtle hint of redcurrant as well as discreet touches of tonka bean and vanilla/wood. The mouth is fruity, well-balanced, well-built and offers a nice suavity, a good definition, a beautiful minerality (mineral frame), a fine acidity (in the background), a nice juiciness / freshness, depthness and a good volume. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of redcurrant, juicy / fresh raspberry and fine notes of cassis combined with a touch of blackberry / plum, touches of toasted oak, vanilla and slight touches of chocolate powder. Tannins are well-built. Good length and good persistence (a hint of chocolate and imperceptible hint of coffee).
