The nose offers elegance, fruit, some complexity and a fine fleshiness. There are notes of fleshy redcurrants, pulpy raspberries and, more slightly, pulpy blackcurrants, combined with hints of violet, vanilla, as well as discreet hints of Sichuan pepper and an imperceptible touch of incense. The palate is mineral, fruity, racy and offers good definition, fine iodine, a mineral framework and good work on the “positive” bitters. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/fresh blackcurrant, pulpy/fresh violet plum and more slightly violet combined with hints of fresh red berries, fresh flowers, gravelly/rooty minerality, toastiness, a hint of cardamom and a subtle touch of bergamot and vanilla. The tannins are tightly wound and discreetly marked. Good length.
