Château Haut-Batailley 2020 – Pauillac, Grand Cru Classé 

The nose is aromatic and offer concentration, richness (in finesse and control) as well as a small compact side. It reveals notes of bright/pulpy blackberry, juicy cassis, small notes of small red currants associated with touches of ripe cherry, saffron, liquorish as well as fine hints of sweet spices, star anis and an imperceptible hint of tabaco/pepper (in the background). The mouth is fruity and offers juiciness, a nice freshness, a good definition, gourmandize, roundness as well as suavity, energy, depth and a compact side. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy blackberry, creamy cassis, small notes of juicy/pulpy raspberry associated with touches of juicy/bright cherry, violet as well as fine hints of racy minerality/gravely, saffron, fine hints of star anis, an imperceptible hint of cacao/tonka bean and a subtle hint of dark tea (in the background). Good length. The tannins are fine and elegant.
