Château Haut-Bailly 2024 – Pessac-Léognan, Cru Classé

(58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc) The nose is elegant, velvety and offers energy, a lovely textured, a fine elegant-darkness, as well as a fine, precise, rather intense (but delicate) grain. There are notes of boysenberries, fresh blueberry and small notes of bright raspberry, associated with touches of small fleshy/juicy wild fruits, hints of cornflower, star anise, a hint of sweet tobacco, camphor, as well as a fine/delicate hint of cherry blossom, saffron (on the floral side), bright plum and coffee. The palate is well-built, fruity, elegant, fresh, vibrant and offers energy, dynamism, voluptuousness, delicacy and lovely aromatic depth (with subtlety and delicacy). On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright cassis, small wild red berries and small notes of fresh violet, fresh lily, combined with touches of racy minerality, maceron, a hint of violet plum, as well as fine hints of toastiness, caffeine, a discreet hint of iodized, toasted almond and a discreet hint of fresh vanilla. Fine, delicate, chiselled tannins. Nice work on the good bitters (discreet, in the background, flirting with roasted and delicate sappy). Good length.
