The first nose is sappy, spicy and woody (pine sap, pine needles, fresh wood, toasted wood, licorice, star anise, hint of vanilla). We also find notes of lily, violet, black fruits (morello cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry), strawberry, bigarreau cherry, a hint of mint chocolate, coffee and tonka bean. The palate is tangy, chiseled, tangy, initially woody and spicy (fresh wood, liquorice, toasted wood, nutmeg, hint of vanilla, toasted hazelnut, chocolate, coffee) and the black fruits more pronounced in its fruity material (morello cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, wild strawberry). The tannins are fine, polished and delicate, but structured. The finish is savory, tangy and smoky, quite complex. Nice fresh acidity.
