Château Fontenil 2020 – Fronsac

The nose is fruity and offers a certain racy power, freshness, harmony/elegance as well as some spiciness. It reveals notes of juicy/pulpy boysenberry, ripe blackcurrant and slight notes of small juicy/pulpy berries associated with touches of ripe cherry, spices as well as a hint of graphite and pepper. The palate is fruity and offers freshness, minerality, an acidulous/juicy frame, a nice definition, some fatness, accuracy as well as harmony. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy / pulpy blackcurrant, bright purple plum and slight notes of raspberry associated with touches of cherry, hints of cornflower, spices as well as a subtle hint of licorice stick, of lily, cardamom and a subtle hint almost tonka bean in the background. The tannins are elegant and offer a soft finish. Good length. A subtle hint of good bitterness on the persistent finish. A lovely, delicious and savory wine!
