Château des Jacques – Clos du Grand Carquelin 2014 – Moulin-à-Vent

The nose is fruity and offers a slight freshness as well as a slight concentration. It reveals notes of blackberry and crushed strawberry combined with slight hints of crushed raspberry, caramelized oak, vanilla, flowers / blueberry as well as an imperceptible touch of Sichuan pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, well built, racy, a bit aerial and offers a mineral frame as well as a beautiful, fine, delicate, silky and slightly fleshy matter. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, crushed strawberry and slight notes of crushed cassis associated with slight touches of granite, a hint of wild berries, Zan, toasted hint as well as a subtle hint of cardamom, vanilla / coconut and sweet spices. Tannins are well-built. Good length.
