Château de Rouillac 2021 – Pessac-Léognan

Château de Rouillac 2021 – Pessac-Léognan

The wine has a lemon yellow color of medium intensity. The nose offers gourmandise, complexity and beautiful concentration. The first nose expresses notes of fleshy stone fruits (yellow peach, ripe apricot), exotic fruits (pineapple, passion fruit, a touch of mango), refreshing and at the same time delicious citrus acidity (peel candied lemon, lemon juice, grapefruit, grated orange zest). The woody and sweet spice aromas (vanilla, a hint of cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted hazelnut, a very light touch of caramelized hazelnut) are harmoniously integrated. The second nose also expresses notes of flower honey, acacia, apple blossom and a sweet hint of roasted apple (in the background). On the palate, the flavors are delicious and intense, with sweetness and roundness, balanced by good bitterness and nice acidity. The wine expresses the flavors of yellow peach, ripe pineapple, apricot, roasted golden apple in the background (which adds deliciousness and a pleasant sweet side), fresh and candied citrus fruits, candied lemon peel, zest orange, lemon juice, fresh grapefruit, grapefruit jam). In the mid-palate, we find floral (acacia, apple blossom), spicy (vanilla, a very delicate touch of cinnamon, a hint of licorice and nutmeg) and roasted (toasted hazelnut) notes. The finish is long, with notes of fleshy stone fruits at the beginning, and a tangy and bitter touch of pink grapefruit, which balances the wine. Depth, complexity and freshness. A great success.
