Château de Chaintres – Les Sables 2020 – Saumur-Champigny

(Biodynamic) The wine shows a deep, intense ruby purple colour. The nose is slightly discreet, needs aeration, later revealing nuances of wild black raspberries, bramble, a touch of cassis and juicy black cherries, a light hint of tobacco on the finish. The palate is intensely juicy and vibrant, offering crisp, succulent acidity, amazing fruit concentration and grippy but polished and well-mannered tannins. The juicy notes of red and black cherries are complicated by nuances of sweet and pungent spices, hint of currant leaf and delicate dark minerality. Long, fruity finish and good persistence.
