CHATEAU COS-LABORY 2022 – Saint-Estèphe, Grand Cru Classé

CHATEAU COS-LABORY 2022 – Saint-Estèphe, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is tight, reserved – the wine needs aeration. Then, we find a delicate sappy hint
that strengthens during tasting, complemented by fresh wood (fresh pine bark, fresh oak in
the background), aromatic herbs (mint, fresh rosemary, and a very subtle hint of blackcurrant bud, barely perceptible), tart touch of cocoa nibs and gourmandise of dark chocolate. The fruits on the nose are tangy (blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry, tart strawberry, bird cherry in the background, morello cherry), complemented by a perfumed floral bouquet (violet, lilac, hint of peony). The palate is tight, tangy, solid and well-built, with a concentration of tart fruits and plenty of freshness (but like the nose, it needs to open up). We find the tangy fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry, tangy strawberry, bird cherry in the background, morello cherry), as well as a tannic side of bird cherry and a little more present, completed by the sappy hint of cedar, touches of sweet spices, menthol and fresh herbs (liquorice, star anise, mint, blackcurrant leaf). A persistent, slender, tangy and lively wine, with tannins that are quite present, but fine, a little grippy.
