Château Chatelet 2021 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

Château Chatelet 2021 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is closed at first and needs aeration. The first nose then offers a lot of freshness in menthol aromas of liquorice, peppermint and eucalyptus, to which are added notes of fresh rose, peony, violet, sweet spices (nutmeg, cardamom, anise), as well as a fine touch of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, mild coffee). A fresh and ripe fruity substance envelops the complex bouquet of the wine: we find notes of fresh strawberry, red plum, black plum, morello cherry, red cherry jam and crushed raspberry. Lots of elegance on the nose. The palate is suave and airy, but deep and complex. It expresses notes of fresh red cherry, fresh morello cherry, crushed raspberry, wild strawberry, blackberry and black plum, combined with notes of cherry in chocolate, sweet spices (liquorice, vanilla, white pepper, nutmeg, clove), herbs (fresh peppermint, dried mint), fresh flowers (rose, peony, violet) and torrefaction (a delicate touch of sweet coffee and slightly caramelized toasted hazelnut). The tannins are firm, well structured, but with finesse and elegance. The finish is sapid, slightly chocolatey and sapid, with a nice fruity substance and a supple, but fresh acidity. Lots of gourmandise, beautiful structure, and good aging potential.
