Château Cafol 2022 – Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

The nose is delicate, but fragrant. It offers juiciness, precision and a pleasant bouquet of ripe fruits. We find notes of morello cherry, wild blackberry, fresh and crunchy black plum, blackcurrant, strawberry, accompanied by a touch of menthol, blackcurrant bud, rosemary and pine sap in the background. There are also delicate spicy touches (licorice, vanilla in the background, white pepper) and floral touches (violet, fresh rose petals). On the palate, the wine offers delicacy and gourmandise, as well as a firm tannic structure, a little drying in the mid-palate, but velvety thanks to a fine texture of tannins and enveloped thanks to a fruity substance and a salivating acidity. The wine expresses the fresh and juicy flavors of red cherry, strawberry, raspberry, morello cherry, red currant and red plum (we find more red fruits on the palate than on the nose), accompanied by delicate notes of sweet spices (cinnamon, licorice, a hint of vanilla), dark chocolate, and refreshing touches of chocolate mint, fresh thyme and flowers (violet, cornflower). The finish is persistent, complex and concentrated, with freshness, juiciness and nice acidity. A full-bodied wine, but already pleasant, which has a certain potential for development.
