Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2023 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, 1er Grand Cru Classé

The nose is fresh, floral and offers a controlled exhibition of fruit, complexity, a nice airiness in its grain, a chiseled side as well as fresh spices. There are notes of black blackberry, juicy/fresh black berries and small notes of blueberry associated with touches of pulpy blueberry, violet, lily, graphite as well as fine almost macerated hints of fresh pepper, cardamom, camphor and fresh toast. The palate is nicely led, fresh, balanced, chiseled, precise, airy and offers a tangy frame, accuracy, tension, minerality, pulpiness, harmony, depth as well as a nice stretchiness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, graphite, small fresh/juicy black berries and small notes of cornflower associated with touches of blue plum, camphor, small dense black berries, infusion, a subtle almost wisteria hint (in the background) as well as a fine hint of darkness. The tannins are very discreetly marked and fine. Good length. A great graphite and floral character. The persistence is finely sappy and roasted.
