Château Balestard La Tonnelle 2022 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé

The nose is fruity, elegant, complex and offers creaminess, depth and gourmandise. It reveals notes of creamy cassis, ripe wild strawberry and small notes of limestone associated with touches of fleshy purple plum, crushed/ripe small fruits as well as a hint of toast, sweet spices, a subtle hint of tonka bean and a very discreet hint of infusion. The palate is beautifully juicy, fruity, elegant, balanced and offers a tangy frame, energy, roundness, volume, a nice definition. It expresses notes of juicy/pulpy blueberry, bright cassis and small notes of cornflower associated with touches of juicy/fresh cherry as well as hints of toast, sweet blond tobacco and a hint of toasted almond, fresh coffee and a subtle hint of spices. Tannins are mellow and finely powdered. Good length, nicely sapid and gourmand, appetizing and opening finish. Acidic, limestone, width, fat and smoothness. A layer of good roasting in the background.
