Château Angelot Robin 2021 – Montagne-Saint-Emilion

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The first nose expresses notes of aromatic herbs (peppermint, a touch of roasted bouquet garni), sweet spices (liquorice, cardamom in the background, nutmeg), which combine after aeration with notes of violet, toasted hazelnut in the background, as well as aromas of fresh fruits (strawberry, morello cherry, red cherry, crushed raspberry, black plum). We also find a fine mineral touch (limestone, dry stone), after the wine has opened in the glass. The palate is savoury, with an attack which expresses the woody notes more than on the nose (we first sense the notes of toasted wood, a touch of smoke and toasted hazelnut), then complemented by touches of sweet spices (liquorice, nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla, which is more noticeable on the palate). The fruity substance is fresh and juicy – we find flavors of crushed morello cherry, strawberry, red cherry, raspberry coulis, crushed red plum and black plum. The tannins are fine and powdery. The finish is rather persistent and offers juiciness, freshness and a fine floral bouquet (iris, violet) in the background. Nice acidity. A fresh and balanced wine.
