Charles Krug – Malbec 2015, Limited Relase – Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, structured and offers a small power as well as a very slight richness. It reveals notes of ripe cassis, small wild berries and touches of boysenberry, crunchy strawberry combined with hints of liquorice, tea, spices, black pepper as well as discreet hints of local vegetation / grove. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, very slightly tight and offers a good definition, a small juiciness, suavity, a good structure, a slight freshness, silkiness as well as a good finesse of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of black cherry, ripe cassis and small notes of juicy / ripe black berries associated with slight touches of licorice / Zan, tobacco, spices as well as very slight hints of dark chocolate, a very discreet touch of black pepper and an imperceptible hint of grove. Tannins are well-built, fine and very slightly mellow. Good length.
