Celestino Pecci Poggio al Carro 2019 – Brunello di Montalcino

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is finely perfumed and offers an elegant concentration, as well as a beautiful complexity, enveloped tertiary notes and a savoury spicy and herbaceous hint. It expresses the aromas of black olive, dry bay leaf, roasted bouquet garni and fresh rosemary, which are complemented on the second nose by notes of fresh wild mint, menthol and eucalyptus and by a subtle floral bouquet (lilac, violet, wild rose). We also find notes of sweet coffee, toasted almond, fresh tobacco, damp leaves in the background, mint chocolate, liquorice, cardamom, and pine needles. The fruity substance, dense, but fresh and tangy, appears in the second nose in the notes of bird cherry, morello cherry, fresh black plum, blackberry and roasted and dried bigarreau cherry. The palate is airy, subtle and at the same time enveloping and juicy. It expresses notes of fresh morello cherry, fresh bigarreau cherry, tangy cranberries in the background, fresh black plum, red plum, as well as a herbaceous hint of peppermint, green olive, thyme flower, bay leaf, fresh rosemary, combined with roasted notes (coffee with perceptible but integrated bitterness, toasted bitter almond), fresh tobacco, damp leaves in the background, as well as dark chocolate, liquorice, crushed coriander seeds , dry pine needles and flowers (lilac, dried rose). The tannins are firm, but powdery and cocoa-like, slightly bitter. A salivating acidity balances a slight dry sensation of tannins. Beautiful complexity and lots of freshness and juiciness on the palate.
