Celestino Pecci 2017 – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

Celestino Pecci 2017 – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with slight garnet reflections. The nose is dense, with ripe and juicy fruitiness, even a little sweet. It expresses notes of wild blackberry, morello cherry, quetsche plum, prunes, kirsch cherry, as well as perceptible but integrated tertiary aromas (wet leaves, wilted rose), herbaceous notes (infusion of mint, bay leaf, dried basil, a touch of thyme and oregano), floral (violet, a hint of peony) and spicy (crushed cardamom, coriander seeds, liquorice). We also see a sappy touch of pine needles, as well as a hint of bitter almond and coffee in the background. The palate offers precision, juiciness and a generous, but straight and tangy fruity substance. It expresses in particular the flavors of morello cherry, bird cherry, black plum, wild blackberry, bigarreau cherry, cranberries with good bitterness, as well as a fine hint of torrefaction (coffee, toasted almond), herbaceous touches (dried mint, dried pine needles, basil, rosemary, bay leaf) and floral aromas (dried rose, lilac, thyme flower). The tertiary notes (wet leaves, dry tobacco) are delicate and appear at the very end of the palate. The tannins are tight, dry and powerful, which gives structure, potential and tension to the wine. The finish is persistent, sapid, with gourmet notes of bitter cocoa and chocolate cherry, accompanied by a refreshing acidity. A direct wine, fresh and complex.
