Castiglion del Bosco 2020 – Brunello di Montalcino

Castiglion del Bosco 2020 – Brunello di Montalcino

The nose is spicy, with pronounced balsamic notes, as well as a savoury spiciness (nutmeg, liquorice, cardamom), associated with fresh and dried fruits (fresh morello cherry, dried cherry, blackberry, cranberries, raspberry, blackcurrant), with aromas of herbs (basil, bay leaf, rosemary, a hint of fresh tobacco), lily and roasting in the background (toasted almond, fresh hazelnut, a hint of bitter cocoa). The palate is fruity, airy and expresses more fresh fruits than dried fruits (fresh morello cherry, blackberry, cranberries, raspberry, blackcurrant), notes of fresh herbs (thyme, a hint of mint, rosemary), as well as a good bitterness of coffee, bird cherry and fresh almond in the background. The tannins are tight, gripping, softened by a salivating acidity. Good length on the bitterness of the fruits, flavor, and a pronounced touch of coffee on the persistence.
