Castello di Querceto Il Picchio 2021 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is delicately perfumed and opens with aromas of fresh red fruits (red cherry, raspberry, blueberry, a hint of morello cherry and blackberry) and roasted (roasted cherry, roasted raspberry), combined with notes of dried wild mint, cut rosemary, spices (liquorice, cardamom, white pepper, a touch of vanilla), roasted (coffee, cocoa, toasted almond) and racy minerality (limestone, gravel, dry earth), as well as a gourmand hint of mint chocolate. The palate has a tangy and fresh attack, with flavors of red cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant and blueberry, then combined with notes of morello cherry and strawberry. On the mid-palate, we find notes of tobacco, dried wild mint, roasting (coffee, toasted almond, cocoa) and spices (crushed cardamom; liquorice, nutmeg). The tannins are tight, a little dry. The acidity is salivating and balancing. Good length on notes of tobacco and spices, straightness.
