Castello di Meleto 2021 – Chianti Classico

(organic) The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is reserved, but offers some concentration and complexity. It expresses notes of fresh red cherry, roasted red cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, wild plum, wild strawberry, as well as notes of aromatic herbs (thyme, dried rosemary), a spicy touch of white pepper and cumin, as well as a hint of freshness of blackcurrant leaf and liquorice, and a sweet touch of cocoa. On the palate, the wine is juicy and fruity on the attack, but tannic and rather firm and astringent on the finish. It expresses notes of tart red cherry, blackcurrant, wild plum (with its tannic touch), strawberry, cranberries, a touch of blackcurrant leaf, thyme, cut grass, wild flowers, as well as a bitterness on the finish, associated with a touch of liquorice, dark chocolate as well as a salivating acidity. A structured and firm wine, which needs time to soften.
