Cascina Maria 2021 – Barbaresco

Cascina Maria 2021 – Barbaresco

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is aromatic, fruity and gourmand. It expresses notes of juicy morello cherry, wild blackberry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, red cherry jam and redcurrant jelly, combined with floral notes of peony and lilac, with refreshing herbaceous touches (crushed wild mint), as well as savory notes of sweet spices (liquorice, fruity vanilla, cloves), dark chocolate and sweet coffee. The palate offers a silky attack and a tight and grippy structure of tannins, which is expressed in the middle of the palate and at the finish. We find notes of wild strawberry, morello cherry, wild plum, crushed raspberry, blueberry, associated with touches of sweet spices (liquorice, white pepper, cloves), peony, rose, chocolate black and dried mint The finish is moderately persistent and expresses the drying, even a bit astringent touch of the tannins, but at the same time the concentration and depth of its fruity substance which helps balance them. A powerful and concentrated wine, which needs time to open up and round out its structure.
