Cascina la Barbatella – La Vigna Dell’Angelo 2018, Riserva – Nizza

The nose is aromatic and offers concentration, some intensity/depth, freshness, elegance and fine grain. There are notes of boysenberry, bright blackcurrant and more slightly Sichuan pepper combined with hints of spice, tea, nutmeg, hints of jammy currants and a discreet hint of lily and star anise. The palate is nicely fresh, juicy, acidic and offers gourmandise, acidity, minerality, a discreet tightness and concentration. On the palate this wine expresses juicy/fresh cherry, fresh/juicy raspberry and more slightly crushed blackcurrant notes combined with fine touches of plum blossom, mocha and a discreet hint of spice, sense of place. Chewy on the finish. Nice persistence. A lovely gourmet wine!
