Casa Sola 2017 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is reserved and requires aeration. It then expresses delicate tertiary notes (dry tobacco, dry fallen leaves, dried rose), balanced by gourmand and slightly sweet aromas of dark chocolate, toasted hazelnut, bitter almond in chocolate, as well as wild mint and peony. We also find fresh (morello cherry, red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry) and dried (dried red cherry, dried raspberry) fruits, combined with spiciness (liquorice, vanilla powder, ground cumin), cocoa and coffee, as well as wild rose and peony. The palate is savory, gourmet, with an expressive and slightly sweet attack (morello cherry in chocolate, crushed wild strawberry, raspberry coulis). We also find flavors of cocoa, coffee, toasted hazelnut and sweet spices (liquorice, ground cumin, nutmeg), complemented by delicate tertiary notes (tobacco, undergrowth, dried rose). The tannins are still grippy, but not dry, with a fine texture, balanced by a salivating acidity. The finish is gourmand and persistent, with notes of dried red fruits and a hint of cocoa. A gourmand, structured and well-evolved wine.
