Carpinetto 2019 – Brunello di Montalcino

Carpinetto 2019 – Brunello di Montalcino

The wine has a medium intensity ruby color with slight garnet reflections. The first nose expresses notes of fresh fruit (wild strawberry, morello cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, bird cherry) and compote (crushed strawberry, compote red cherry), associated with tasty aromas of fresh bay leaf, roasted bouquet garni, basil, peppermint, black olive and oregano, with a fine floral bouquet (wild flowers, even lavender, violet, dried rose), with a perceptible, but delicate minerality, which appears after aeration. We also sense chocolate notes (chocolate morello cherry, chocolate prunes, bitter cocoa), a slight tertiary side (dry tobacco, wet leaves) and spicy (white pepper, liquorice, crushed coriander seeds). The palate is delicious, even slightly sweet. It expresses notes of ripe morello cherry, tart red cherry, wild blackberry, crunchy strawberry in the background, blackcurrant and bird cherry (with its dry and slightly tannic touch). We then find herbaceous notes (oregano, basil, peppermint, pine needles), black olive, a fine floral bouquet (dried lavender in the background, dried rose, violet), as well as sweet spices (coriander seeds, liquorice, fennel seeds in the background, white pepper) and torrefaction (coffee with good bitterness, toasted almond). The tannins are tight, but have a fine and melted texture, and are balanced by a salivating acidity and the delicious freshness of mint chocolate, which we find on the finish. Accuracy, straightness and concentration, all in freshness
