The wine has ruby color of medium intencity, with very light garnet reflections. The aromas are a bit reserved on the first nose, but they open up after aeration. The wine expresses tangy notes of red cherry, red currant, raspberry and juicy notes of blackberry and black plum. The aromas of oak are well integrated – the wine expresses notes of vanilla, chocolate, a slight touch of liquorice and balsamic cream. On the palate, the attack is round, on ripe black fruits (black plum, blackberry, Morello cherry), crème de cassis and spices (liquorice, cinnamon). The mid-palate is tighter, with a more firm tannic structure. The tannins are a bit grainy and need time to mellow. The finish is fresh, with a slight bitterness, notes of dried aromatic herbs and a nice acidity. A structured and full-bodied wine, which needs time to develop.
