Campo alla Sughera, Arnione 2020 – Bolgheri Superiore

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is aromatic, roasted and smoky at the opening (roasted herbs, roasted meat in the background) and then becomes fruity, even sweet. We find notes of ripe morello cherry, red chocolate cherry, mint chocolate, blackberry, blackcurrant, crushed blueberry and wild strawberry, associated with spicy notes (cardamom, smoked pepper, liquorice), toasted (toasted hazelnut, toasted wood in the background) and floral (lilac, peony, violet). After aeration, we also find refreshing herbaceous notes (peppermint, rosemary, pine needles). The palate is silky, enveloping and juicy, with velvety, polished and melted, but solid tannins. It expresses the flavors of juicy morello cherry, chocolate red cherry, blackberry, crushed blackcurrant, blueberry, wild strawberry and raspberry coulis, combined with a spicy and gourmet chocolatey hint (notes of liquorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, cocoa, nutmeg, smoked pepper), as well as a floral hint (lilac, peony, dried cornflower) and roasting (sweet coffee, toasted almond). The finish is long, gourmet, concentrated and dense, with a good bitterness of cocoa and dark chocolate, with a refreshing acidity. Concentration, density and an elegant and controlled richness. Beautiful harmony.
