Campo alla Sughera 2020 – Toscana

Campo alla Sughera 2020 – Toscana

The wine has a deep ruby color. The nose offers precision, complexity and a beautiful concentration of fruit, combined with herbaceous freshness and a refined spiciness. We find the aromas of fresh morello cherry, wild blackberry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, black plum and wild blueberry, combined with aromas of delicate, but distinct, sweet spices, which harmoniously complete the profile of the wine: fresh vanilla, liquorice stick, grated nutmeg, crushed coriander seeds. We also find a herbaceous touch of wild mint, dried pine needles and a subtle, but elegant floral bouquet (dried rose, fresh peony, lilac), as well as a mineral touch of limestone in the background and a fine hint of torrefaction (coffee , toasted hazelnut). The palate is enveloping, voluminous, with a firm and straight tannic structure, well integrated into a rich and deep fruity substance. We find flavors of very ripe fresh morello cherry, chocolate morello cherry, ripe black plum, crushed wild strawberry, raspberry coulis and wild blackberry, combined with slightly bitter notes of dark chocolate, and a savoury spiciness (liquorice with a fine star anise side, fresh vanilla, grated nutmeg, roasted coriander seeds), with a herbaceous hint of dried pine needles, fresh wild mint and a floral touch of peony. The finish is expressive and persistent, chocolatey and powdery (cocoa), rich and juicy, but balanced by a fresh and supple acidity. A full-bodied, well-structured, rich and balanced wine.
