Camille Giroud, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2020

Camille Giroud, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2020

The wine has a lemon-yellow color of medium intensity. The nose offers concentration, depth, elegant complexity and a pronounced yet integrated spiciness and oakiness. It expresses notes of ripe stone fruits (juicy yellow peach, sweet apricot), a fine touch of exotic fruits (crunchy fresh pineapple, passion fruit coulis), fresh citrus fruits (yellow lemon, lemon zest) and citrus jam. We also find notes of fresh flowers (apple blossom, acacia, field flowers), fresh herbs (a fine note of thyme and peppermint in the background), associated with subtle spicy touches (vanilla, clove, nutmeg), toasted (toasted hazelnut, toasted bread, brioche) as well as a delicate note of floral honey. On the palate, the wine offers finesse, roundness and sapidity. It expresses the flavors of juicy yellow peach, ripe apricot, fresh lemon, candied lemon zest, fresh pineapple, and a fine touch of crushed green apple which brings freshness, as well as notes of fresh flowers (acacia, lime blossom, apple blossom), herbs (fresh thyme, peppermint) and delicate spicy and toasted touches (vanilla, cloves, toast, toasted hazelnut). The finish is long, and suave, but refined and fresh, with lively acidity and woody and spicy notes wrapped in a concentrated and elegant fruitiness. A complex, tasty wine, with a good structure, freshness and good aging potential, probably closed at the moment.
