Borgo Scopetto 2019 – Chianti Classico Riserva

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with slight garnet reflections. The nose is a little reserved, but expresses sweet and silky aromas after aeration. We find notes of fresh ripe morello cherry, chocolate cherry, blackberry, wild strawberry, blueberry and crushed blackcurrant, as well as a touch of rosemary, wild mint, fresh bay leaf, wild rose, delicate spicy notes (licorice, pink pepper, cloves) and a touch of black olive in the background. On the palate, the attack is juicy and fruity. It develops in the mid-palate towards tannic power with a slight astringency, then enveloped by notes of ripe fruit (morello cherry, red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, crushed blueberry). We also find notes of sweet spices (clove, cumin, licorice, a touch of cinnamon), dried rose, rosemary and bay leaf, with a hint of black tapenade in the background. Good persistence and lovely freshness, provided by a salivating acidity.
