Borges – Soalheira 2012 – Vintage Port

The nose is fine and fruity. It reveals notes of Quetsche plum, cassis jam and fine notes of raspberry associated with a hint of blackberry, cherry, black olive as well as a subtle touches of Zan, blond tobacco, spices as well as hints of caramelization, slight hints of Bourbon vanilla and an imperceptible hint of gray pepper. The palate is fruity, mineral, well-balanced, a bit aerial and offers a beautiful mineral frame, a beautiful elegance, a beautiful straightness, a slight juiciness, a slight freshness, a slight suavity as well as a beautiful tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, fleshy plum and small notes of strawberry, cassis jam associated with small touches of chocolate / tonka bean, caramelized oak, almond, a touch of vanilla as well as a very discreet hint of black pepper and coffee on the persistence / in the background. A beautiful and promising Porto!
