Bluemont – Ascent 2021 – Virginia

The nose is fruity, fresh and offers a fine varietal touch, a certain deepness, delicacy as well as a certain power in precision. It reveals notes of boysenberry, crushed black plum and small notes of violet/cornflower associated with touches of nutmeg, blond tobacco as well as discreet hints of cardamom and crushed/finely roasted small fruits. The palate is nicely built, fruity, well-balanced and offers an acidulous frame, precision, tension, a beautiful definition, suavity, a delicate grain as well as sapidity. A beautiful delicacy and suppleness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy wild blackberry, fresh violet and small notes of fresh cassis associated with touches of concentrated/rich small red fruits as well as hints of crushed/slightly jammy small red berries and star anise. Beautifully gourmand and precise.
