Balthus 2021 – Bordeaux Supérieur

Balthus 2021 – Bordeaux Supérieur

The nose is fresh, racy, elegant and reveals power in harmony, delicacy in its power, nice finesse of grain as well as some seductive character. There are notes of bright blackcurrant, crushed raspberry and, more slightly, blueberry/blueberry pulp, combined with touches of blueberry, star anise, fine hints of lilac, racy minerality, as well as a fine touch of graphite, almond, cardamom, discreet hints of cuben pepper, and a fine touch of vanilla. The palate is fruity, balanced and reveals minerality, a juicy/acidic backbone, an aerial side, good definition, roundness, nice gourmandize, power with finesse as well as a little tension. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, crushed raspberry and, more slightly, blueberry, with hints of blue berries, star anise, chocolate, fine toasted almonds and a discreet hint of lily, vanilla and a subtle, almost saline touch (in the background). The tannins are elegant and precise. Good length. A harmonious and beautifully elegant wine in its classicism.
