Alves de Sousa – Vintage 2015 – Porto

The nose is fresh, fruity, elegant, racy and offers a slight juiciness, delicacy, a small power as well as a slight minerality. It reveals notes of blueberry, cassis and slight notes of wild strawberry, racy minerality (terroir) associated with discreet touches of eucalyptus, a subtle hint of chocolate / tonka bean, wood as well as a very discreet hint of cardamom and gray pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, mineral, well-balanced, racy, a bit tight, well built, well defined and offers a slight juiciness, a beautiful mineral frame, a small power, finesse, a good structure as well as a good freshness. On the palate this Porto expresses notes of juicy blueberry, juicy blackberry and small notes of wild strawberry associated with a subtle hint of dried plum (in the background), slight touches of fresh raspberry, dark chocolate, caramelization, Tonka bean, sweet spices as well as a very discreet hint of black tea (in the background) and an imperceptible hint of eucalyptus / flowers (in the background). Good length and good persistence. Beautiful potential!
