Alain Girard & Fils, Domaine des Brosses, Confidence 2022 – Sancerre

The wine has a pale lemon yellow color, with light golden highlights. The first nose expresses woody and spicy notes of fresh wood, toasted hazelnut, fresh bitter almond, as well as nutmeg, cloves, cumin seeds and vanilla in the background. After aeration, it offers floral scents of fresh lime, acacia, apple blossom, as well as flower honey, wax and hay in the background. We also find ripe and juicy fruits: yellow peach, apricot, crushed green apple, fresh lemon, gooseberries and grapefruit. The palate is very expressive and lively. The attack is tangy, sharp and sqvoury. It expresses pronounced and dominant notes of gooseberries, combined with notes of passion fruit, lemon zest, fresh lime, fresh green apple, tangy apricot and white peach. Then, we find the deliciousness and good bitterness of chestnut honey, lime jam and candied grapefruit, as well as a floral scent (acacia, chamomile, linden) and woody and spicy notes (fresh wood, toasted wood), toasted hazelnut, fresh bitter almond, vanilla, clove, nutmeg). The finish is juicy, chiseled, fresh and slightly bitter. The acidity is salivating and sharp. Beautiful complexity, concentration and a smoky mineral touch on the long honeyed and rich persistence.
