Start of the 2025 Pinot Grigio harvest

DOC Delle Venezie

Verona, August 21, 2025 – The 2025 harvest of Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie has officially begun. This appellation, the most extensive and integrated in Italy, covering Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and the autonomous province of Trento, is showing promising signs in terms of both quality and quantity, with a slight increase in production compared to the last two more modest years.

“We are delighted to launch a harvest that combines quality, innovation, and sustainability,” says Luca Rigotti, President of the DOC Delle Venezie Consortium. “Our experiments with low-alcohol Pinot Grigio represent a strategic project to meet the new expectations of consumers, who are increasingly sensitive to light, low-calorie wines, perfectly aligned with our partnership with Wine in Moderation.”

Regional Perspectives

Friuli-Venezia Giulia – Matteo Lovo, President of the Regional Associations of Winemakers, highlights one of the best recent seasons in terms of phytosanitary conditions, with very low disease pressure and favorable weather. “The harvest will begin this week and should be completed in about ten days. Quality is improving, and production is expected to increase by 5 to 10% compared to 2024. Some areas will naturally produce low-alcohol Pinot Grigio thanks to an earlier harvest start.

Trentino – Furio Battelini, the new president of the regional winegrowing associations, highlights an early growing season and a good balance between sugars and acidity thanks to temperature variations. “Harvest will begin in the coming days and continue until mid-September. We expect production to be slightly higher than in 2024, with some exceptional quality points. Our region is a pioneer in the production of low-alcohol Pinot Grigio.” »

Veneto – Michele Zanardo, president of the Assoenologi of Veneto Orientale, reports a regular season and excellent health of the vines, with the harvest scheduled to begin in the last week of August. Alberto Marchisio, President of the Western Veneto Wine Associations, confirms healthy grapes and accelerated ripening compared to 2024, with quality and quantity consistent with recent years.

Supply Management and Sustainability

For the 2025 campaign, the DOC Delle Venezie Consortium has approved a reduction in the maximum yield from 180 to 170 quintals per hectare and mandatory storage of 20 quintals per hectare to ensure market balance. Stefano Sequino, Director of the Consortium, emphasizes that these measures help maintain market stability, enhance the appellation’s profile, and support balanced growth in international markets.

With the start of the harvest, Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie confirms itself not only as a symbol of quality and tradition, but also as a laboratory of innovation for a sector increasingly attentive to sustainability and new consumer expectations.
