Elegance and research in Casale Monferrato
We are in Casale, in the very center of the city-capital of Piedmonts Monferrato wine, in a restaurant located inside the historic Palazzo Gozzani Treville dating back to the 18th century, historical seat of the Accademia Filarmonica since 1827. A cultural and food and wine center designed by architect Giovanni Battista Scapitta, then revalued, following neoclassical canons, by Ottavio Bertotti Scamozzi of Vicenza, author of the imposing façade slightly concave to follow the course of the street. Romantic frescoes, high ceilings and a courtyard of honor. A place that has been run for a few decades by a passionate Nicola Mecca, a great professional in the world of hospitality and wine; his constant search for small producers of Champagne, which he imports directly to Italy, goes hand in hand with his desire to pay homage to the best wines of the area in which he operates. A wine list that is therefore both sophisticated and entertaining. His generosity led him to decideto surround himself with a very young kitchen brigade.
Relying on the talents of the self-taught but highly receptive Luca Filia, the cuisine he offers is classic in its flavors, but modern in its cooking and presentation. The latest convincing recipes on the menu are the mouth-watering mock pizza with cream of bread, fresh tomato and drops of stracciatella di bufala cheese, a tasty vegetable risotto with Umami mellowed by sour butter, and the red mullet in Sal Viva presented on a bed of aigrette and vegetables. Atmosphere, taste, and unbea-table value for money in the area, « a unique place but for everyone » reads the claim, seating up to 40, open every day except Wednesday. Lunches, chic aperitifs, and dinners, but above all events, as the pulsating activity of this magnificent place.
