A new beginning for the prestigious Bordeaux estate
The world of wine is so rich and exciting not only because of the history and vocation of some legendary vineyards, but also because of stories of rebirth. Stories of capable people investing their energy to achieve what they want for the place where they live.
This is the story of the couple formed by Luc Planty, the former director of Château Guiraude, and his wife Clémence, who recently decided to buy Château de Malle, built at the dawn of the 17th century by Jacques de Malle, President of the Bordeaux Parliament.
With 50 hectares of vines, the estate lies between the prestigious Graves and Sauternes appellations. The elegant Italian-style gardens enhance its image. With origins dating back to the 1600s, Château de Malle has been a Grand Cru Classé since 1855, and is listed as a French historic monument.
This couple took over the reins of the prestigious estate to honour its history and celebrate it in the future. Time for analysis and reading. A vision, but above all a new approach to Bordeaux for Château de Malle.
The aim is to become one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious wines.
Quality and authenticity come from a living place, from a generous soul, in the immediate future it will be necessary to ‘rethink the production tool’, to make wines that are as close to the terroir of origin as possible. To do this, the vineyards will be converted to organic farming.
In addition to the
Graves. The grapes that will be cultivated will have access to all the technical expertise of this Grand Cru Classé. The breadth of the range of wines produced will be a great advantage, where quality will be the top priority.
