Vaptistis Winery – Mavrotragano 2023, Tinos

The wine has a beautiful pale cherry color. The first nose is intense with a lovely licorice note, sweet spices, blond tobacco, and buttered toast. There are also notes of cooked and fresh fruits like cherry. There is a lovely minty, almost eucalyptus-like freshness. The second nose is intense and powerful with notes of sweet spices, juicy purple plum, and blackberry. The palate is rounded on the attack with sweet spices, juicy morello cherry, and blond tobacco. There is good acidity and tannins that are present and grippy until the finish. There is a nice salivation and notes of plum, juniper berry, and black cherry. The finish is a little dry.
