Château de Laubade 1985 – Bas-Armagnac

40% (barrel sample) The nose is aromatic and offers power, intensity, and a certain roundness. It reveals notes of quince, marmalade, and crushed apricot combined with touches of crushed nectarine, as well as fine hints of nutmeg, rancio, and a hint of orange blossom. The palate is fruity, vibrant and offers juiciness, suavity, tension, a mineral structure as well as a certain straightness and gourmandise. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of crushed yellow peach, crushed apple, and small notes of orange marmalade combined with touches of kumquat, fine hints of pâtisseries/caramelization, and a subtle, almost honeyed hint of tobacco tin (in the background). Good length. Powerful on the finish.
