Clos Saint Jean 2022 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The nose is beautifully intense, fruity, racy and offers power and fine minerality. It reveals notes of boysenberry, delicate pepper and small notes of brilliant red berries, associated with touches of small crunchy plums, violets as well as hints of nutmeg, smoke, toast and a discreet hint of local garrigue. The palate is well-built, fruity, suave, gourmand and offers a certain fullness and generosity on the palate, gourmandise, a small fat and a lovely pulpiness and brightness of fruit. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright violet plum, wild raspberry and small notes of crushed red berries, combined with floral/violet touches, as well as discreetly sappy hints, nutmeg, tonka bean, cardamom, black olive and a subtle hint of balsamic and lavender in the background. Good length and persistence. A beautifully gourmand, round, enveloping and juicy wine. Creamy tannins.
