La Guardiense – Cantari 2018 – Sannio DOC Aglianico Riserva

The nose is peppery and offers intensity, with a fine, incisive, frank and spicy side. There are notes of cubeb pepper, clove and small notes of small wild fruits, associated with fine hints of juniper berries, tobacco and a discreet hint of spices. The palate is well-built, fruity, gourmand, fleshy and presents fine tension and gourmandise. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy cassis, raspberry and small notes of bright/brilliant blue plum, combined with touches of tobacco, nutmeg, as well as fine hints of cardamom, chocolate and sweet spices. A lovely mellowness and gourmandise on the finish. The barrel still needs time. A little chewiness, a certain gourmandise and a fine hint of dried almond on the finish.
