Château Pontet-Canet 2024 – Pauillac, Cru Classé

Château Pontet-Canet 2024 – Pauillac, Cru Classé

(52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc) The nose is fruity, velvety as well as relatively rich and airy at the same time. It reveals notes of bright blackberry, crunchy purple plum and small notes of wild strawberry associated with touches of violet; lily, hints of fresh flowers, graphite as well as fine hints of almost Timut pepper, a discreet hint of star anise, subtle iodine/oceanic hints and an imperceptible hint of blood orange. The palate is beautifully built, supple, fresh, elegant, racy, iodine/saline, nicely sapid, gourmand and offers a beautiful tangy frame, an infusion side, a beautifully deepness, a velvety texture as well as a beautiful ripe fruit (which can sometimes flirt with a solar aspect of the fruit). A certain aromatic concentration. A certain darkness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackcurrant, juicy cherry and small notes of cornflowers associated with touches of bright Quetsche plum, hints of flint, graphene as well as fine hints of camphor, colas, Bigarreau cherry, violet/fresh flowers, iodine, star anise and a hint of smoke. Lovely mid-palate. Tannins are sapid, iodized, finely sappy and elegant. Good length. Beautiful textured persistence.
