Haut-Bailly II 2024 – Pessac-Léognan

Haut-Bailly II 2024 – Pessac-Léognan

(45% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc) The nose is fruity, fresh and offers a little velvetiness as well as a fine, sappy/pine-needle side. There are notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy raspberry and small notes of small velvety/fleshy black fruits, associated with touches of maceron, small bright berries, fine hints of fairly ripe red cherry, as well as discreet hints of infusion, nutmeg and a hint of sweet pepper. The palate is well-built, fruity, balanced, chiselled, elegant and offers a tangy frame, minerality, juiciness, energy, good definition, a lovely/fine velvety texture, as well as a lovely, fresh coating of fat. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/fresh blackberry, juicy/pulpy cassis and small notes of violet, combined with touches of small pulpy/brilliant red berries, fine hints of star anise, lilac, as well as discreet hints of infusion, toasted, tonka bean, maceron and cornflower. The tannins are mellow, sapid and gourmand. A subtle hint of iodized/sappy in the background. Good purity of fruit.
