The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The first nose expresses a slight tertiary hint (undergrowth, fallen leaves, dry tobacco). We then find herbaceous notes (dried wild mint, a touch of brewed bergamot tea), fruity notes (red cherry, morello cherry, raspberry, crunchy strawberry, blackcurrant), spicy notes (liquorice, nutmeg, black pepper, tonka bean), as well as roasted notes (toasted hazelnut, dark chocolate, coffee), and a gourmand hint of chocolate morello cherry, as well as dried rose and peony. The palate is also tertiary on the attack (dried tobacco, undergrowth, fallen leaves), with grippy and tight, but fine tannins. We also find flavors of tart red cherry, cranberry, raspberry, roasted red cherry, as well as coffee, dark chocolate, toasted almond and toasted wood. The finish is quite persistent, with tertiary notes, a good coffee bitterness and a mouth-watering acidity. Concentrated in flavors, but the tannins are tight and still need to melt.
