Castello di Gabbiano, Vigneto Cerbaiola 2021 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose opens with herbaceous notes of dried mint, roasted bouquet garni and fresh tobacco. It then expresses aromas of morello cherry, ripe red cherry, raspberry and strawberry, combined with toasted touches of toasted hazelnut, toasted wood and dark chocolate, as well as spices (toasted vanilla in the background, liquorice, cardamom, white pepper). There is also a touch of black plum and cornflower. The palate is lively, straight and tangy. It expresses fruity notes on the attack (tart red cherry, cranberries, raspberry, wild strawberry, morello cherry), combined with roasted notes (toasted wood, toasted almond, coffee, cocoa), sweet spices (liquorice, vanilla, tonka bean, white pepper) and a fine herbaceous hint (dried mint, tobacco, a touch of dried blackcurrant leaf). The tannins are well-integrated, slightly tight but not astringent. Nice, solid structure, refreshing acidity, and good length with notes of tangy, smoky bergamot. A precise and slender wine.
