Tenuta di Arceno, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Campolupi 2022 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a bright ruby color of medium intensity and slight purple highlights. The nose is reserved, but offers a certain concentration and a gourmand roasted hint, combined with a fruity freshness – aromas of roasted cherry, roasted raspberry, fresh morello cherry, blackberry and wild strawberry. There are also hints of dried wild mint, fresh bouquet garni, toasted almond, cocoa nibs and sweet coffee, as well as wild rose and violet in the background. The spiciness is delicate and enveloping – there are notes of liquorice, nutmeg and a hint of white pepper. The palate is chiseled, tangy, with tight and grippy tannins. It expresses notes of cranberry, the tannic and slightly bitter hint of bird cherry and grapefruit, red cherry and raspberry, as well as cocoa, toasted almond, coffee, violet and dried blackcurrant leaf. The finish is medium-length and also expresses a firm tannic structure, with bitterness and a salivating acidity, complemented by a minty touch in the background.
