Boscheto Campacci, Ruello 2021 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

Boscheto Campacci, Ruello 2021 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a medium-intensity ruby color. The initial nose expresses pronounced spicy and savory herbaceous notes (sweet wild mint, fresh thyme, fresh rosemary, liquorice, nutmeg, ground black pepper), as well as a mineral framework (rock, limestone). After aeration, we find notes of juicy and fleshy fruits (morello cherry, blackberry, crushed raspberry, wild strawberry), as well as roasted notes (toasted wood, toasted hazelnut, coffee, chocolate), as well as red cherry jam and a sweet floral touch of peony. The palate has an expressive, spicy and woody attack (cumin, roasted coriander seeds, licorice, vanilla, a touch of coffee, toasted hazelnut and toasted wood). Then we find notes of roasted bouquet garni, fresh tobacco, macerated cherry in the background and a limestone mineral framework, as well as a touch of fresh peony and dried rose. The tannins are enveloping, tight, and solid, yet finely textured, balanced by a mouthwatering acidity. The finish is persistent and savory, with notes of roasted aromatic herbs and cocoa. A fairly powerful, structured, and balanced wine.
